First World Problems

Let's talk problems, people.

I have been accused of being fancy, bougie, and maybe a little high maintenance. Shocker, I'm sure.  Most of this is by Bryan, every day week.

So I thought I'd share some of my personal first world problems today!

Here are my seven biggest FWPs:

1.  When it hurts to brush out my hair because it gets tangly now that it's longer.

2.  When I haven't actually purchased beer from a store in OVER A YEAR and now I'm so out of touch on beer prices :(

3.  When my Birchbox is a couple days late....but I need my fancy beauty samples, guys!

4.  When our DVR screws up recording Real Housewives.  That's some rage-level bullshit to me.

5.  When I can't decide which Special K breakfast sandwich to have--sausage, egg and cheese or ham, pepperjack and egg?! Morning decisions are tough.

6.  When my Sirius subscription is expired so I have to stream music via Bluetooth in the car.

7.  When we can't hook up our Google TV correctly..so how will we browse the internet and Netflix all at once, in bed?!

K, your turn, what are your most ridiculous first world problems?!! Dying to hear the ridiculous-ness level that I know all of you are capable of!

Wifing Win

I don't always feel like I "win" as a wife. In fact, I rarely even think of myself as a wife...that's for old people!

But it turns out I am, and have been one for almost a year now. We hit 9 months on Saturday...so in honor of that, I give you a huge win.

So, Bryan has these Abercrombie and Fitch pants.  He has had them for somewhere between 6-7 years.

The bottoms of them were SO raggedy. Strings everywhere, holes.  I wish I had a photo.

Sunday night he decided (after I mentioned it for the 100th time how gross they looked) that he would cut them off into sweatpants.

To "celebrate", we took the cut off bottoms and put them on our heads...like when Michael Scott on "The Office" goes all Survivorman and turns his dress pants into a hat in the woods!

K so I was celebrating...he was sad.

*cue Charlie Brown music*

No really though, I think he likes them better now!

Happy Tuesday everyone, may you all have a small life win today!!

I Like My Drinks 2Go With Me :: Review

When the great people over at The Product Farm contacted me to review a few of their products, I was SO excited and flattered for a few good reasons:

1.  I had seen these products on lots of blogs and thought they looked so cool!

2.  I love fun products that have to do with wine, beer, and booze in general.

3.  Most importantly, I like my drinks to be portable.  So now I will take y'all on a journey of the places my Brew2Go, VinoXL, and Vino2Go have gone, and also give you my review of these great products!

Disclaimer:  I received these products from The Product Farm to review.  My review and opinions are mine.

1.  Brew2Go grills with us.  Bryan works at a brewery, he knows beer.  It is his job to know everything he can about beer.  We get CASES of free beer every month.  So in short, beer is sorta our thing. At first, Bryan was a little skeptical about drinking out of a closed lid like that, but he said he really didn't notice a difference, and that he enjoyed how cold his beer stayed.

Double-walled? Yes, please, and thank you again from Houston.

Fresh Mich Ultra poured up for myself.  I actually found when I used it that it made me drink a beer a little more quickly than I would have out of a bottle or can...probably a good thing!? Yes, yes, a good thing.

Balancing it precariously while I watch Arrested Development on the floor.  The awesome thing is that you can do this and not be totally terrified/not totally terrify your husband.

2.  My vino2Go and I had many fun adventures so far.  Cooking:

Kicking dog toys all around.  See how you can sloppily hold your red wine glass while you kick tennis balls, and nothing spills all over your new rug?  LOVE.

When you are watching old eps of "The Babysitter's Club" on Netflix at midnight on a Friday...vino2Go will always be there to not judge you.

3.  I have used my VinoXL way more than this, but pinning and wine, all on the couch without fear? YES.

Overall, I loved the products! I think they are great, and I have enjoyed using them outdoors too, just didn't snap a photo yet!  The the VinoXL holds about half or 1/3 of a bottle of wine...even Bryan was like, "damn, you better watch out with that thing, LOTS of wine in it!"

The only thing Bryan mentioned when using the Brew2Go was that he wished the lid was more tightly sealed/seemed a little bit tighter or more secure.  The glasses are sturdy and wash well, and I had no issues with leaks or anything like that!  They hold a perfect amount of beer or wine, and I think they make a really cool treat for yourself or a fun gift for others--something that is unique and won't be "just another wine or beer thing".

Five (small) Goals for the Week

1.  Fall asleep pre-11:30 pm.

Wednesdays.

2.  Drink some ice cold beer and have some filthy ballpark food at the baseball game tomorrow night. GO BREWERS.  Also, gather material for Fan Friday with Sarah while I'm there.

3.  Post the world's best boozy giveaway Thursday.  Oh, wait, done.  Because we're awesome.  Can't wait.

4.  Let some anxieties go and just go for it.

Monday.

5.  Finish reading Inferno by Dan Brown.  Seriously, it's great, but I have NO time for reading. Because of puppy and internet-ing.

Lazy Blogger Week :: H54F

K, so obviously I barely posted this week, and most of that should be attributed to Mr. Barley who has been running our lives since Monday night!

Barley is adorable, and wonderful, and funny and just makes our day with his little tail waggling around!  I am a million times sorry to those of you who commented on our good news of getting him that I haven't replied to you--I promise replies are coming this weekend!

So, aside from the obvious good news that is HIM, here are my top 5 of the week:

1.  Making fun of myself for how unorganized I am despite my great planner.

2.  Puffins cereal for dessert the other night.  So legit.

3.  My two men.

4.  I definitely don't have a photo of this, but my new job is going so well, and I love it!  I feel really blessed that the  j o b situation finally worked out.  I don't even feel like it's work to go to work, so I know I enjoy what I'm doing despite the fact that basically everything is new to me!

5.  Us two hot messes, a/k/a Adriana at Dog Hair (just go, I don't even know why I have to include the link anymore, she's amazing, just go.) and I are putting together this AMAZEBALLS giveaway that goes live next Thursday. I scalped this pic from her blog that she photoshopped (thx girl) of us together at a bar.

The giveaway is going to be all about boozy bloggers.  You know, you sit down at your computer with a glass of vino, maybe a tumbler of Jack on ice, or an ice cold beer in a koozie. Then you start typing and the words flow so well. We've gotten a lot of our favorite and fellow drunks  boozy bloggers together to join in on the fun, so look out for that coming soon!

Linking with Lauren for H54F as usual! Again, next week I will be back with more posts, including my famed newspaper/freehand painting DIY! :)

Puppy Introduction :: BARLEY!

This is Barley, our new addition to the family!  We named him Barley since his daddy works in the beer business...

...and Barley is a lot more adorable than Hops, Grits, Yeast, Keg, or Microbiology Puppy.

He is a 7-week old black lab, and we are over the moon in love with him.

So far we know he loves his rope toy, football toy, teething keys, k really all toys, and following me around the house!

He also likes whining to guilt mommy into cuddles which she is trying so hard to not go do right now!! Just have to fight the urge for a few nights until he settles in, right?

He also loves curling on the dead center of the couch between us and stretching out for a snooze.

Welcome to the family (and the blog) buddy!

The Weekender :: Vol. 7

This weekend was *highly* productive!

We had some nice time to do our own thing by ourselves, enjoyed dinner & drinks with our friends, got things done around the apartment, and even made a BIG decision.

Friday :: We had mojitos, sangria and tapas at a place in Rice Village that we like with a few friends, and went for beers after....it was a good time and naturally, my bloggy bff was the recipient of entertaining and awkward texts.

Saturday ::

Bryan went golfing for a charity outing/work thing:

The bike is there because the app has a bike & I wanted a reason to use it, boom, done.

Meanwhile...I went shopping for some clothes for work!  I ended up only buying a pair of crops at Express, and some running shorts for $5 (!!!) at Old Navy.  Fail.  I was basically like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.  "The stores aren't nice to people, they're nice to credit cards."  No one was even mean to mean, but that's how I felt.  Just nothing that caught my eye.

I'm hoping next time I go in a couple weeks, it'll be more like this, ideally with that hat too.

Pretty Woman shopping

I did find this great playlist on Songza though.  If you don't have Songza you're missing out, it's better than Pandora.  There are playlists like "Vodka Escapades: Ladies Be Pregaming", and "100 Worst Songs Ever" and "2000s Pop Divas", "Fall Asleep", and of course, "A Cruise on the S.S. Pharrell", so yeah, it's great.  Just download it, I promise it's awesome.

Then, Sunday night we went to Target because, again, work clothes.  We ended up walking out with our NEW RUG.  Even better.  Obsessed.  We had wanted this one for a long time, and they had a 7x10, such a win.

Sunday ::

We got up early, grabbed some breakfast on the go, and headed to...PetSmart.

Because this coming weekend, hopefully, if all goes well, we will be adopting an adorable puppy.  We are planning on going to the Houston BARC shelter, but we are also looking at some pups on Craigslist (NOT from a puppy mill, k.) that need re-homing or they will probably end up at a shelter.

Here are some of the purchase we made:

Kong Alligator cuddle toy, leash/collar, squeaky hedgehog, tennis ball, squeaky football, Nylabone, teething toys, rope toy, and of course, cute storage basket we found at Kohl's later on.  We also got training treats, and this week we will get the crate/bedding, food storage, and we will probably hold off on food until we know what he/she has been eating at their home or the shelter so we can start with some of that and then slowly move them onto what we think is best!

SO. EXCITED.  Ideally, one week from now this whole post is just puppy pictures.

Last big thing of Sunday was that we finally hung up our finished DIY wall art above our couch.  This was originally supposed to go in our room, but it ended up fitting better in our living room.

The bedroom wall will wait for now!

Full tutorial for this bad boy will come later this week, but suffice to say it was basically two newspapers + tea + a 48x24 canvas + modge podge + some acrylic paint + modge podge spray.

We couldn't be happier with how it fits in, and love the texture it adds, and personal detail of our initials! Plus, as I said to my friend, it wasn't $400 from Pottery Barn or other stores that sell similar-looking vintage-y things.  Art this size on Etsy goes for $250-350, and I've honestly never seen anything like this on there/Pinterest, etc.  Sometimes you just gotta get creative on your own!
