I did nothing this week? {5 on Friday}

I wouldn't really "high five" myself over any of this....I seriously feel like work was crazy-busy, I was running slow all week, and my whole right side of my jaw hurts.  Yes, so here I am bitching about it. Without further complaints about life, here is a list of five factual things that happened this week!

1.  Booked a place through Airbnb for our anniversary trip to New Orleans, which we will be on our way to two weeks from today.  Woo, NOLA here we come!  ((K I am actually pretty psyched about getting this done this week, so maybe it wasn't a wash after all.))

Isn't this place the cutest?  Kind of eccentric, really cozy looking, and I'm a sucker for a chandelier.  Not to mention the cost of this WHOLE apartment is about half of what we would have paid for two nights at a nice hotel in the French Quarter, and I think we will get a better, more local experience this way too!  

2.  ONE WEEK from right meow, I will be departing for Nashville for one of my best friend's bachelorette parties!  SO EXCITED!  I will be rooming with this amazing broad pictured below, who is just "my person" when it comes to so many things. The insane texts about places you just don't check in on on Foursquare (your ob-gyn office, fyi), the knowing looks about when it's time to run away from crazy people, the sneaking of shots when we are out, it's all so perf.  Baby Nippy & Baby G reunited!!  

Sometimes we play "baby simba" with pavers we "borrow" from sidewalks. And ICE each other, and climb steel moose, and make faces on Cinco.   Ya'll can look forward to quality photos after Nashville.  

3.  Our pup is recovering nicely from his neutering a week ago and is getting his stitches out tomorrow.  Followed by a dog park trip probs!  He is super energetic, and I think we will see some behavior improvements eventually as a result of getting him neutered.  Listen to Bob Barker people, always spay and neuter your pets!

4.  Team Luckness Monster is hoping for total domination this week in FF!  Really gonna be riding the fast cleats of my running backs to victory I think.  I took this screenshot when I still had some points from the Raven's defense...pretty sure I'm negative now.  Is that even possible?  Who let me manage my own team?!

It's Friday & I'm So Excited {i'm so...scared.}

Do you like my Saved by the Bell reference friends?  Bad jokes are ok today, because it's Friday, and everything is better for just that fact alone.

This week was rough.  Work kinda crawled by, Barley is cutting his adult teeth (woof.), I have a sinus infection, and I think Bryan is still tired from driving back from the casino last weekend.   So needless to say, we weren't exactly "out and about" this week.  Still tho, here are the best five moments of the week:

1.& 2.  Lauren from Method to My Madness and I met up last night at Anvil in Midtown for cocktailllll hour.  Don't worry, I think this makes us real IRL friends now. 

I had a Pimm's Cup, she had the House Punch (why did I capitalize those??), and we both got the ridic pretzel with queso flameado. Um it was amazing.  And even better was our conversation about everything from family to work stuff to *gasp* husbands, and of course, blog world things.  

3.  You guys, if you aren't watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix, I want you to finish reading this post, drop everything else you have planned for today/tomorrow, and go watch.  

It's a hilarious/scary/thoughtful/well-written show based on a memoir of the same name (which I reallyyyy want to read), and it's about a woman who goes to jail for smuggling drugs in Europe for her ex-girlfriend who was also an expert heroin smuggler! And oh yeah, now she has a gentlemen fiancé on the outside.  There are characters called Crazy Eyes, Tastee, and Pennsatucky. Just watch it. It's great.  

4.  This corn we grilled.  I know it seems simple & lame, but sometimes finding the little things in life is what it's all about.  Lauren, aren't you happy you beat out corn on this list?! ;)

5.  Bryan sneakily took this pic on my phone the other night, and it's great and our pup is adorable and he is just getting so big it's crazy.

Five on Friday {what a week.}

Sooo happy Friday everyone!! 

We have had a crazy week, but in a good way! Bryan's mom is staying with us and having a little vacation, and it's going to be a fun weekend playing tourist in Houston and showing her around!  I actually feel semi confident that we know what we're doing here now and can actually guide peeps around a bit! 

Onto the FIVE!

1.  Oh hi perfect German Chocolate cake I made! & happy birthday again Bryan! 

2.  I am happy to share that The League on FX will be back in just ONE month!  

Seems muy trivial, but for real got me excited!! 
 

3.  Oh hi Internet! What's that? More amazing news for me? About a PHILLIP LIM LINE AT TARGET? Omg dies. 

This bag is everything. I am in love and will make it mine for fall & winter.

4.   This pic is also everything, but in a less RZ, more adorable puppy snoozing on husband pic. I die a little inside over this. 

Sorry I'm not sorry that I'm a HUGE CREEP taking sleep pics. We all know he does it back because I've posted the evidence too. 

5.  I will never apologize for jamming to Mariah. But this song? I mean jamming doesn't cover the things that happen when I play it in the car while I'm driving solo.

Friday, I love you!

Today I am SO happy it's Friday. This week actually went by quickly, but I could really use a day of sun and mag reading by the pool right about meow.

Here are my five wins of the week:

Trivia/steak night on Tuesday at Front Porch...team name was Big Test Icicles.  It was me and three dudes to start with. And I didn't have a better name. 

Umm cinnamon coffee at BG for a late mornings breakfast on Sunday hit the spot.

Made perfectly crispy potato wedges in the oven. And then forgot to take an "after" pic. FAIL. But huge win, so win trumps fail Bc they were delish.  Basically lots of olive oil, sea salt, and cracked pepper to coat the guys.  Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, turn over, and then bake on the other side for 30 minutes.  Just perf with grilled corn and turkey dogs!

My puppy can go outside and he loves itttt!!  He is so happy to explore the outdoors and that makes us happy!

Found myself some flawless ombré hair-aspiration for fall if I want to take it slightly darker.  Jennifer Carpenter, I want to steal your hair.

As a bonus, this text from Bryan on Sunday:

In Barley's mouth. So needless to say we were relieved that I had the other in still. 

How it fell out/he got it is a mystery. May need to look into making them screw backs.

Why Baseball Games Are the Shizz :: Fan Friday

So it's not really a secret that I enjoy sports--me being a football and baseball fan is pretty much one of Bryan's favorite things about me.  One of my favorite things about summer is going to real, live, baseball games.  We did this A LOT back home...and it's 100% different because well, TAILGATING.  But here are a few of the reasons I adore going to games anywhere:

1.  I get to wear my awesome Brewers sausage race t-shirt. I'm obsessed w this. I'm actually on my second Bc my first got a gross grease stain probs from eating filthy ballpark food.

2.  Selfies at the ballpark make my hair look SUPER blonde I guess. Either way we have a ton of these and I love them all!

3.  Filth food part 1: bags and bags of peanuts. No really we had at least a lb. of peanuts Wednesday night. 

4. When you get seats that are just awesome you can't even deal because you can smell the dirt, and hear the players talking, and it's all just awesome.

5.  Filth food part 2: Nachos all night.

6.  BEER. Obvs brought my own koozies too for us!  No one wants a hot beer. 

7.  Filth food part 3: the shaming evidence the lurks under the seat in front of you all game.

There you go, guys.  There are a lot more, but this is what I managed to get pics of.  It's mostly food and beer, I know.  I swear I was also really into the game, and know player's names and stuff too, but I can't really capture that goodness on "film" a/k/a iPhone camera roll.

Lazy Blogger Week :: H54F

K, so obviously I barely posted this week, and most of that should be attributed to Mr. Barley who has been running our lives since Monday night!



Barley is adorable, and wonderful, and funny and just makes our day with his little tail waggling around!  I am a million times sorry to those of you who commented on our good news of getting him that I haven't replied to you--I promise replies are coming this weekend!

So, aside from the obvious good news that is HIM, here are my top 5 of the week:

1.  Making fun of myself for how unorganized I am despite my great planner.

2.  Puffins cereal for dessert the other night.  So legit.

3.  My two men.

4.  I definitely don't have a photo of this, but my new job is going so well, and I love it!  I feel really blessed that the  j o b situation finally worked out.  I don't even feel like it's work to go to work, so I know I enjoy what I'm doing despite the fact that basically everything is new to me!

5.  Us two hot messes, a/k/a Adriana at Dog Hair (just go, I don't even know why I have to include the link anymore, she's amazing, just go.) and I are putting together this AMAZEBALLS giveaway that goes live next Thursday. I scalped this pic from her blog that she photoshopped (thx girl) of us together at a bar.  

The giveaway is going to be all about boozy bloggers.  You know, you sit down at your computer with a glass of vino, maybe a tumbler of Jack on ice, or an ice cold beer in a koozie. Then you start typing and the words flow so well. We've gotten a lot of our favorite and fellow drunks  boozy bloggers together to join in on the fun, so look out for that coming soon!

One Day Late :: H54F

I really thought I could skip H54F, but I can't b/c hi, I'm a blogger & I'm addicted, so one day late is a-ok by me.

Here are my five highlights:

1.  Got to sport my new black crops and wedges to work one day!

2.  Got some delicious froyo--idk what happened, but looks like fruity pebbles (what? did I even like those as a kid??), coconut, chocolate and peanut butter froyo, strawberries, omg.  Worth every cal.

3.  Got my AWESOME products to review from The Product Farm.  I will be posting my review of the Vino2Go, VinoXL and Brew2Go soon, and then my bloggy bff Adriana and I are concocting a giveaway to share with you all!! It's gonna be a lot of fun! 

4.  Yay for work clothes! I love being able to put outfits together, and wear jewelry after months of not doing that.  Even with my old job I didn't dress up too nicely because I was sometimes working in bad areas.  So it's a real treat that I can actually look put together.  Going shopping this afternoon too, yo!

5.  HA, so earlier this week, we had plans to go down by the pool, grill and have some wine while we waited for our food to be done.  Well, NO plastic wine glasses, and glass isn't allowed.  So, had to get fancy and use this TCB cup from Graceland.  FAIL.  So glad I have my vino2Go now!!

The End of House Spousing :: H54F

So, this week was officially my last as a house spouse!  I will be starting my grown-up job on Monday, and I'm thrilled about it.  Linking with Lauren like usual!

1.  I got an iPhone 5!  As some of you know, last week, right before the move, my 4 took a tumble in the parking garage and I shattered the shit out of that screen.

So now, upgrade + we have buy back with Best Buy = pure joy.  And love my new wallpaper too!

2.  My car got blacklisted from being driven.  So basically, the Lovely on this is incredibly sarcastic.  Did I mention that I downloaded the Beautiful Mess app onto my new phone? Oh, did I ever.  Wait til you see the rest of this week's highlights...

As I self-described this to my bloggy BFF, Adriana at Dog Hair, my car climbed "Brokeass Mountain" this week.  You could see through places in the frame you should definitely. not. see. through.  It was mostly rust damage from years fighting snow, salt and Midwest weather.  I'd only had it for about 2 years though, so pretty sad for me since it was my first "adult" car post-high school.

The mechanic actually was shocked it was driveable. Ok so now we are just happy no one ever has to drive it again and there wasn't an accident.

3.  As a result of #2, NEW CAR!!  Like, brand-spanking new.

We ended up deciding on a 2013 Jetta TDI.  I won't be driving it though, I'm taking Bryan's 2010 Escape that we got a year ago since I prefer an SUV to a car.  This one isn't ours, but is pretty much exactly what it will look like when we pick it up tonight after it gets it's window tint.

4.  Finally went to the dermatologist.  Big deal for me, and if you're curious why, see yesterday's post right here.  I had three moles removed, and hopefully it will all be good news.

It's a high five because it was stressful, but I can cross one more item off of my 30 for 30 list now!  Woo!  Also..again w/ the beautiful mess app.  Uhh yeah, I'm def gonna make magic happen with this app from now on.  Deal w/ it!

And I will not lie about this..I had myself a delightful McDonald's breakfast afterwards as a reward.  Sometimes you gotta get a little Pavlov-ian on your own ass and try to trick your future self! 

5.  Had these delicious chicken, pepper and pineapple packets for dinner...recipe plus another chicken & pepper one coming to you next week!

I have a ton of food photos & recipes ready to share with you guys!  Get excited...that is if you love chicken, various bell peppers, and brown rice :)  

And, a bonus 6.  This is a fun sneak peek of a DIY I've been working on for seemingly forever.

It involved staining newspaper with tea, covering this 36x24'' canvas, and then abandoning it for weeks while we moved, I got a job and shit went down.  Now, we have part of the lettering painted on and it just needs to be refined :) Coming SOON, promise.
